(Guest Speaker)@International Women Convention 2016 with the Theme “The Strenght of A Woman” taking from the Holy Scripture in the book of 2nd Samuel 20:16-22.

Christian women have been called to discover what they are meant to be in creation. This voice was raised in a recent concluded International women convention of City of Grace Ministries International Alicanti, Spain. It was a call that summoned every woman to know that God,s intention in creation was an authentic and articulated one and for a purpose. But for us to discover our own strenght which God has imprinted in us, we must worship him in glory. The glory of God can only shine on you when you are in his part. The of the truth, the part of the just and the part of observances of his laws. For many are here for many years and yet to discover the strenght of their creation. But when you find the glory of God, he wil show you his strenght and the best way to actualise it. The General Overseer later prayed for the Women of Grace for the strenght of God upon their life individually and the Women Ministry in particular.

THE BEAUTY OF HEAD WRAP BY AFRICAN WOMEN AND MEN

According to Danya London, the head wrap has now become a staple of traditional black dress; arrays of wonderful head wraps, fashionably worn at special events, have now become a fashion statement for the black woman. In history, the head wrap was hard to come by and therefore usually worn by wealthier black men and women. Now the head wrap is an available garment for men and women of all statuses to wear.

Picture1 Picture2 Picture3 Picture6 Picture7

African head wraps come in many bright bold colors that animate the face. According to Africa Imports African Business, in West Africa, head wraps are referred to as “gele” in Yoruba or “ichafu” in Ibo. Some African American women continue to wear head wraps to boast their spiritual strength.

Picture8 Picture9 Picture10 Picture4 Picture5

The head wrap typically covers the hair completely. One cultural significance about the African head wrap is that African women typically secure the wrap using a knot at the base of the crown which leaves the neck and forehead exposed. Part of the reason for this is to make the facial features appear striking so that anyone that wishes to look upon an African American woman would look up at her face rather than down at her body.

Coral Beads an insignia of royalty

With an appeal that exudes Royalty, elegance, Class and Style and passing through centuries, Coral Beads still stand as the No. 1 symbol of Royalty in contemporary Africa tradtional representations.

Picture2 Picture1 Picture3

On this edition we shall be looking at Coral Beads as An Ideal Bridal Costume in the Benin tradition. The Benins, Urhobo’s and some other parts of the edo/Delta have a common name for coral bead, they call it ivie. Coral bead as ornament, is held in high esteem and valued like diamond among the people of this region and the country at large especially during traditional marriage. Even the Yoruba’s and Ibos uses coral beads as insignia of royalty too. The extent of its value gave rise to the parable in Benin “Aiye Ivie rhuemwin oya”. This simply means, beads are not used as instrument of dishonour.
